I have been hunting around for home build sportboat plans in the 8 meter range, and have found the didi 26, Alik's free 8 meter plans, the i550, Colson's designs, the GT6...

Am I missing any interesting designs out there? My dad was thinking about building an 8 meter sportboat, and he definitely want's to build using wood.

He want's a sailplan with a sprit, and a lifting or swing keel.

Kevin Dibley also has an 8m

I've built and own a Colson 8. Not a hardcore raceboat, but a good mix of race and the ability to cruise with comfort. If you google Colson 8 you'll see my website of the build.

Here is a Didi 26 in alloy. It appears he decided to build from 3mm alloy instead of 12mm plywood . What do you guys think of this substitution?

    Cheers Mate,
Still needs some more tweaking to get her up to speed, but that's part of the challange.

    Try talking to Paul Bieker.

He has a full on 27 footer (currently not for wood, but maybe could be modified in the construction plan) and the Shilshoal 27 (for wood construction) that has some accomodation.

The K800 is a great design.. I'm a big fan of Alik's work. But, I don't consider the K800 a sportboat... The crayola is pretty sporty though. The pluto 800 is more like what I'm looking for.

The i550 is a great design that is gaining traction as a one design class... he was looking for something a tad bigger. too bad there is no such thing as an i750

Alik, was the keel swept (20deg) to get CG and CLR in their right positions or was this a design parameter for the outset and canard added?

The boat was designed like that, from beginning: twin rudders, swept bulbkeel and canard. One this photo old keel is shown; the new one got shorter bulb.
