I've changed the plans for a boat I'm building to shorten the cabin/ extend the cockpit. The aft cabin wall now sits approximately 10-12" aft of the mast step.

What are other boats with such a configuration doing for companionway hatches? Any great ideas would be appreciated. Possibly offset to the side? Or is there a great hatch style that that slides laterally to open a little of the cabin top? I don't need much, but I can't really do any type of slide forward. Possibly a vertical lift?

    Thanks
