Alternative catamaran rigs for self build? Becoming more self sufficient

Looks great! How well does it get to windward? Can you reef or do you 'Depower' the rig?
All the best Mark

concerning the windward-ability I was a little bit limited by the fore-sail, because its attaching is not properly solved yet. For me it was ok, but I can't tell you, what angle would be possible in best case before April 2020 :)
At the moment, there is no reef-possibility foreseen. Originally my crab claw sail had 16 m². After the first test I reduced it to 12 m². So I have 16 m² in total at the moment. (boat length is 5,5mand weight is about 180kg). I think it would be possible to make something like a reef with a spiller line, like mentioned in Gary Dierking's "outrigger sailing canoes". But I am not sure, wheter this would work well, but I will try it during next summer. But anyhow, I am planning to sew an alternative smaller sail for heavy wind conditions, which is for sure the better option than a reef with pulling up the boom. But what I can do is to use the foresail as a try-sail (or just hide all of the sails and wait for better conditions or for help :) )

Fantastic project, look forward to following your progress. Do you have a facebook page?

I joined and left facebook in 2010 :) but I am thinking about making an instagram-page about my boat. I would be glad to get closer in contact with people, who are planning to build or who already realized similar projects. I am new in this forum here, so first I will have to find out, how private messages work here.

If you do, stick a link on here, I am sure others would want to follow. All the best
