A Research Program for Quantitative Wake Analysis

A great deal of excellent advice, and generously shared knowledge. As always, I am grateful.

Obviously quantitative analysis of the energy within Serenity's wake, or that of sea sleds in general, is beyond my means. However the University of British Columbia is nearby, and I am certain there will be many people there for whom it is not.

In the meantime I have arranged for comparison runs with a deep V of comparable size weight and power. That at least can tell us "yup, it's different"

Get a wave probe ...get real quantitative results, rather than qualitative...data is always your friend

I agree Ad Hoc, but public perception is the villain here.
I think John's purposes would be best served by just that,
people on their docks giving feed-back to the two different
boats passing by in conjunction with a "wave probe".

( Don't even get me started on the Fast-Cat Ferry debacle. )

As a BC resident and old enough to perhaps remember the (google) BC Fast Ferry Fiasco, the fast cats generated unacceptable wakes. (perhaps politically unacceptable wakes )

I was surprised to encounter the dilapidated remains of one, lying alongside the quay at the Egyptian Abu Qir naval base a few years ago.

Wow, I don't suppose you have a picture of that do you?

I've been on board one of those 3 sisters,
been swamped while standing on the dock by it's wash during un-docking maneuvers,
and negotiated it's ~7+ foot wake-at-speed during a rescue Zodiac exercise.
Oh, and I paid for a portion of their construction costs through my taxes.
What an unorganized disaster that whole project was.
I'm going to look on Google Earth for it in Egypt.

I just googled it too...the BC cat was on the side of the finger pier where there is a frigate now.
