    Hi Guy's

Can some tell me if a Mercruiser 470 heat exchanger ( 4 inch round model ) would be ok to use on a small V8 engine , a ford 302, they look like a good size for the small block v8 and would fit in my application nicely

    Thanks in Advance
    Dave

    well it would be close,
the largest 470 design was rated at 188hp and a 302 with a 2 barrel was also 188hp from merc

    Thanks for the reply

I thought it would be close, as pleasurecraft make a 3 x24 inch for a small block ford, and the newer 470 is 4 x 27 inch in size

    Regards

it all depends on your manifolds, if they are in the circuit and are small log style ski boat ones you might be in trouble as the water gets too hot in them before it exists.
Cast iron never seems to have that problem.
