A current Book about Golden Globe Race Generation Boats

I take it you have not been into racing. For the last (that was cancelled) race from London to Monte Carlo a few years back, we paid $14,000 for the privilege of getting in the list of competitors. Add to that the air travel, hotels, etc. Racing is expensive. Mandatory equipment for emergencies is a standard requirement. I don't see anything untoward.

I have worked onboard a "J" Class, I understand expense very well.
I just find it a bit odd that sailors are only able to use only a sextant and no weather routing, yet must also do compulsory "media chats" and videos. It seems contradictory to me, that reliving a 1960s "un-plugged-off-grid" event, that part the rules is taking time for media duties that the original competitors did not have to deal with. Quid-pro-quo, who benefits?

I would rather the Lawless brothers race around the world against each other, and save themselves 30K each, but again, each to their own.

What's incredible from a classic point of view is

(A) the madness of placing the center of gravity forward of the Pitch axis of rotation so that the forces of the Earth and Sea easily attack the yacht, and

(B) placing the lateral pressure of the water forward of the Yaw axis—magnificent for winning a summer regatta in the 1970s and 80s, but terrible on the open sea

It is a common misconception and complete misunderstanding of the difference between an airplane and a boat. The first operates within a fluid, while the second at the interface of two fluids of very different density and viscosity. In short, sailing an airplane is a fool's errand.

That's an interesting statement to me; but my yacht sails at 20.1 knots and yours at 20 knots makes no sense to me, and yet, that's what has determined yacht design for the last 150 years: seeing who can pee a millimeter farther

One serious solution would be to ban regattas, although surely a simpler solution would be to prohibit naval architects (who have been wasting 150 years going around in circles) from going near anything smaller than 300 tons.

The records show that there are way less losses at sea than centuries ago. In fact, the large majority of boats and ships reach their destination. In the cod fisheries the losses were about 10% yearly. It is utterly preposterous to claim that was OK and no changes should be made. Maybe you would have a different opinion if you had spent a lifetime at sea like many of us.
 
A) Why the Keel must be Neutralized (HC_K = LCG, LCB)

Because the rudder must compensate for

1) the imbalance created by the sails
2) the imbalance created by the sailboat’s hull Roll/Heel
3) the imbalance created by the sailboat’s hull Yaw/Leeway
4) the imbalance created by the sailboat’s hull Pitch bow down, and

5) all of this in a very demanding operating environment for the rudder due to the orbital current of the wave

In other words, even by neutralizing the keel, we cannot ensure that the yacht will have a stable equilibrium on the yaw axis

B) Why can’t we compromise even a millimeter on Pitch axis control?

B1) Well, because this is an approximate equivalence to begin understanding the issue

Roll: 20°
Yaw: 3°
Pitch: 1°

B2) Because on a yacht, the three axes have various feedback loops

And

B3) a bow-down Pitch has a devastating effect on a heeled-over and yawing yacht

And when this 19th-century perspective was precisely what was needed ... they correctly thought that "Bayesian" was a motorboat ...

Well, it's very simple

My yacht (LCG < LCF) sails at 5.1 knots @ 0.35 Froude and yours at 5 knots

Change the yacht construction technology

My yacht sails at 10.1 knots and yours at 10 knots. I beat you again

Change the yacht construction technology

My yacht sails at 20.2 knots and yours at 20 knots

And that establishes what is normal and acceptable, because with just a tiny bit more speed, you win in high-level competition

Obviously, at 20 knots, longitudinal imbalance in a high-performance racing yacht is irrelevant for two reasons: because the speed at which the wave meets the yacht approaches zero, and because at that enormous speed, the hull generates hydrodynamic lift.

But in a snail-yacht that carries its house on its back ... the problem emerges.

And that's how, despite a very very powerful autopilot, one naval architect condemned another naval architect to 16 hours at the helm in his brand-new 45-foot yacht ... while an old, retired merchant marine sailor surfed the same route towards the Canary Islands in an old, third-hand boat bought for 4,000 euros and controlled by an autopilot with little more brainpower than a crystal radio

Can you reference any book you have read that justifies this ridiculous claim? All your posts are a collection of misused and misunderstood terms thrown together into sentence fragments. There are hundreds of books on smaller boats, maybe more. Shake off your indolent attitude and put in the work to study and understand them. Hijacking threads is not an indication of superiority.
