Curious on my materials you guys think would be ok for or more if my idea is ok. I have 4 kids and am rebuilding this boat I work in auto body so have the knowledge basics in fiberglass and I’m not afraid of work. But I don’t have a ton of money to throw at this project and was gonna use treated board for the stringers and was thinking of just a middle of the road ply from my local store for the transom and the floor and will encase in fiberglass. Would you think this would be ok and last me quite a while done right.

I split the boat and ripped out all the bad and cut the top of the stringers and pressure washed all the rot out IMG_2050.jpeg IMG_2052.jpeg IMG_2073.jpeg IMG_2077.jpeg

Cost out your project carefully, a job like this one can easily cost more than a good used boat that will get you on the water with your kids today.

Very true but I figure something I can afford will have the same problems. If not right away then shortly after. I got this boat given to me and feel like if I do the work with just plywood and polyester with csm and 6 mil I will have it water worthy by next summer or even the end of this one time given for less than 1000. But my more concern was if properly sealed plywood treated or subfloor plywood would be ok to give me and the fam 10 or so years.

Treated plywood may not bond well to resins.

I read that somewhere and was in a giant internal debate to use bsx subfloor ply it has more layers the downfall is the glue between the layers is not waterproof but since I was gonna resin coat all sides before setting in and then wrapping with glass if it would be fine. Not sure yet but the way I’m kinda thinking is if I do this and get 8-10 family years out of it I can either do it again or be more stable financially to use coosa or just get something else since it not really a desirable model of boat.
