I replaced my aluminum impeller with a bronze one and now I get a lot of rattling or chatter noise in idle speed. The bronze one weighs 10 pounds more than the aluminum one. It sounds like the noise is coming from the thrust bearing area. I always had an occasional backlash noise with a real slow engine idle. Is this noise a indication the bearing is going bad or is the weight of the bronze impeller causing this. I put the aluminum impeller back in and the noise went away. Any help with this problem would be appreciated.

Why would you want a bronze impeller? How muchhorsepower are you running?

Also, try asking the same question here: www.banderlog.com
