    G'day all

Just doing some research into Adrian Hayter's old boat Sheila II, designed by Albert Strange and built for marine artist Robert E Groves.

Been advised it's in a shed in Hamilton NZ awaiting restoration after dragging and cast on rocks 20-odd years ago.

Does anyone know any more details? PM me if you prefer.

I have contacts for Groves descendents also.

    Cheers

Sounds like you need operatives with boots on the ground

Buzzman - I noticed you posted in the multihull section, in the great Historical Multihulls thread at that! Bad forum etiquette of the worst kind, that thread is one of the best in the sub-forum. Grateful if you removed that post before it stuffs up a really amazing thread. Unless of course Sheila II has been modified by the addition of another hull.

To help out though, the best site for kiwi sailors is the forum on crew.org.nz, I'm sure they will be glad to give you some help..... or abuse ...... or both!

LOL...yes, I know it was very bad form, but as I said in that post, I knew there were a few Kiwis who regularly post there....

But appreciate your tip about crew.org...will chase that up. Thanks! :)

OK, the Albert Strange society has an article from Russ Rimmington from 2005 who was then the owner and had Sheila II in a purpose-built shed on his property in Hamilton NZ.

I believe he is the Russ Rimmington who was formerly Mayor of Hamilton and is still involved on the Council.

    I'll try and contact him.

    Here's the website reference: http://www.albertstrange.org/?p=99

Buzz, you might try one of the woodenboat or wooden boat forums, there's some threads following the resto of various Kiwi Logan built vessels- maybe a small community culture there may be further knowledge of this vessel. Regards from Jeff.
