Yes, the concept is somewhat old hat and has been tried often before, from SA:

Yes its a chevron 7 its a copy of the great barrier express only 7m

 

Increased float size on Frog, still small but maybe an improvement because the boat was too tippy at rest. Going to test sail the double luff main by using the two Skimmer mains as one sail on Frog; will be too low for the D mast but will give an indication of how the full sized sail will work. Will bodgey up some string attachments or sliding pins to the main battens at leeches.

 

Increased float size and volume, should be able to test sail this weekend ... except yet again another cyclone is heading for New Zealand.

 

Couple of shots with the Skimmer's two rigs set up as one for Frog; boat went okay, better than expected, now getting the full sized rig built starting maybe next week

 

Gary, am I right in thinking that the double sided mains are dust two flat panels as the shape comes from the mast rotation ?
That makes diy sails much more doable !

Auckland just semi-weathered (damage is extensive everywhere) a beyond savage cyclone from west/north west with 120 knot plus winds (at Manukau Heads) and 60-70 knots in Waitemata; was sure next morning I would find Frog inverted and in many pieces but was surprised to find the foiler intact, mainly because it was tucked close in to the pohutukawa covered western point of the bay.

I am glad to hear that frog is ok. May be someone thinks you have the right number of boats now.
