Hi! im studying civil ingeneering. As a task, we have to do a boat that is propulsed by a spurt that comes from a tank about 2 mts high. Our boat has to carry a 1 lt bottle of coca cola, full of water. It has to advance 5 metres in the shortest time, and we have to estimate how much time it will take. I jnow very little about boats so if you could help me i would really appreciate it!
I know it has to be long and have a keel, fo its stability, and i was thinking of putting a proppeller that begins to work once the spurt hits it. Is this posible? is it simple? is it a good idea??
    Thank you!

The tank of water is 2 meters high but you only need to carry 1 bottle of CocaCola with water in it? The description doesn't make sense. If you only need to move 5 meters, it would probably be less than one boat length

its a small boat...we have to decide its length, but it should be around 1 mt, or less

You won't have enough stability in a 1mt boat for a 2mt tall tank.

Gonzo, It might help is we knew what a mt is. A lot of confusion in the wording of the original post.

It sounds like a great project. Could you post ALL the parameters (rules) that you have been given to work with for the task? for example, is 2mt (2 metres?) the MAXIMUM hieght allowed to the top of your tank, or MUST it be exactly that hieght? Are the tank you mention and the 1 litre coca cola bottle the same thing?

To start with, lay the CocaCola on its side to lower the center of gravity. According to the design, if the boat is 5 mt long it will already be there. If that drawing is what they gave you, fill the tank with a boat.

the idea is that it can be moved by the spurt of water, until it covers a distance of 5 metres, and the bottle of coca cola has to be placed vertically so that its more difficult
