    =====
Pardon me ,Leo, I forgot to put that word in quotes-corrected momentarily.
But actually, even though it's not really a "race", finishing counts which is why TNZ is doing it while Artemis is recovering and Luna Rosa is boycotting(which I think is pitiful!). Americas Cup 2013......

problem with the Italians is they dont have the moral high ground re cheating as they have been caught in international sporting events before

( illegal J 24's to name one incident, as in different shape)

Murray won't win and he'll be shown the back door.
Or maybe he will apologise for blatantly siding with the evil empire.
And then we can see some honest and historically memorable racing.

TNZ and LR did not win. Those attempting to force changes without unanimous agreement lost. I also picked up very important point:

The Supplementary Safety Recommendations that were issued by the Regatta
Director on 22nd June 2013 included 37 Safety Recommendations from the original
report. These had been changed to include a provision to allow asymmetric rudderwinglets. These amended Safety Recommendations formed a part of the Safety Plan
provided to the USCG and were attached to the Marine Event Permit issued by the
    USCG on 28th June 2013.

Doug, me old mate, Iain Murray was played like a violin by evilson and co. - you'll not hear an apology from me, nor many others.
His hissy fit about cancelling racing if he didn't get his own way, was just bullying ineptitude.
ETNZ's offer to AR of allowing them rudder/elevator changes to get them racing is more the Kiwi way.
Let's hope that AR doesn't clean them up in the finals. Could happen.

The interesting thing to me is the proposed amendment on the rudder rule. TNZ has raced in a configuration that complies with both the established and amended rule. This suggest to me the amendment did not propose a tightening of the rule i.e. deeming the established rule unsafe. The amendment in fact attempted to loosened the parameters to allow some boats that were struggling with stability to use configurations they were using more successfully that fell outside the accepted rules.

Please don't say on one hand that the boycott by LR is pitiful when IM threatens to instigate the cancellation of the entire event if he does not get his way.

I hope now that all parties associated with the defence realise they are not dealing with minnows. This time our teams came prepared for what unfortunately can be expected in AC.

That's the way I see it.
