    will 1/2" anchor line 3 strand nylon be stronge enough for a 2K LB hull?

    An interesting read but does not focus on the size of the anchor. An anchor and the rode material and length will only produce a certain amount of resistance in what you anchor in, will determine the load that the anchor can put into the rode though dynamic considerations can momentarily increase the load beyond what the anchor can resist

    I didn't read the whole page you linked to so will the 1/2" will be stronge enough?

    The hull weight shouldn't be an issue unless there are fairly big waves at the anchorage. But 1/2" 3 strand nylon is very elastic and can handle large shock loads. 1/2" nylon for my 8 ton Willard should be fine and the more nylon in the rode all the better.

    But windage is the real issue almost all the time. Can you make progress into a 40 knot wind w your boat? And can you pull out the anchor in fwd gear w your boat? Haven't done the full power anchor breakout test w my boat (40hp) and of course it would depend hugely on the seabed and anchor in play. The seabed is the biggest variable.

    The above questions may lead to answers to your question.
