300 h.p. jc pontoon trihull needs speed

forum newbie looking for ideas on improving 25+ year old trihull design prior to purchase, jc does not use lifting strakes, jackplates etc., options are a 300 hp o/b @ 3200 lbs = 51 mph or a 377 scorpion or 6.2 with a whipple and 500 hp @ 4300 lbs = 54 mph, clearly this hull in current condition has approached its limiting speed, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated picture of hull is on jcpontoons website

 

Bottom line is that a pontoon boat is not meant to go fast....

 

I agree with Sail Design, you'll waste money, carburant only to make foam the water. The design of the hull forbides any speed...it's like putting a 300 HP engine on a bicycle...
