Hi guys. I'm in the UK and I'm considering building a Glen L squirt. The bill of materials recommends spruce for a lot of the parts. Is this readily available in the UK and is it reasonably priced? If not, what would be the best (and lowest cost) alternative?

    Thanks.

You can use Douglas fir, southern yellow pine and Manny other types of lumber. Glen-L site lists soft and hard lumber and why they are good or not so good and it is very interesting. Lots of trees are good for boat building. Read up on it.
