actually in the harbout they could not carry the kite up, so hadda drop, but I watched the first two hours, she ddi not punch as well as Alpha, who seems to be increasing the gain all the time
i dunno what weather will do, but if it comes in heavy Leopard will catch Alpha, , Leopard has sailed a very good race so far
    Alpha just took off sog13

Have you tried the "Yacht Tracker" on the race website? I can't make it work....

    i cant believe it
I sailed dingys in comp since 13 years, I love racing, the maxis ok they are great, but racing ANYTHING is great too
amazin thing is, Lep and oats are in same long, 4 miles apart yet Lep hold off Oats, ? this must be very good crewwork, Lep is far heavier, it is jsut so bloody gripping

    RHough Retro Dude

Some of us are mildly interested ... but it has become a powerboat race with truly fast boats still banned. :D

NOT trying to start an argument, just pointing out that adding engines to sail boats reduces the interest, as does following an ocean race where the leaders are only doing 15 knots instead of 30 knots.

    Sydney-Hobart 2009

The big monos like Alfa,Wild Oats, Loyal, Leopard and others represent the highest level of large monohull technology for the time being. They are extraordinary sailing machines! To blame them for "mild interest" in some quarters seems a bit unfortunate and unrealistic given that there are probably EIGHTY other monohulls with the traditional ball and chain, I mean fixed keel. And those boats are still contesting the "Tatersals Cup"-the "real"
prize of the Sydney-Hobart-so I'm told.

    Go Wild Oats(please)!

    Flash!

Wild Oats over 20 knots Alpha 12-maybe ,maybe Oats had a plan all the time! ICAP Leopard is just behind Wild Oats and doing 22 knots! They have gotten a real blast of wind....

    Go Wild Oats!

A would have to park 3 hours to lose, but it may get v tricky
the big race is between 2 and 3, whatever it feels almost like you are there, nail biting
The days of the big alloy yachts were so brief
I have never seen the keel canting mech in a carbon boat, but the loads must be gigantic
