How could i measure the speed of a boat with speed transducer from "navman" without using its display unit?
I want to create the display unit myself.

  2. In general most speed sensors send out square wave pulses. Industrial electronic suppliers sell the pretty little LED counters. About $ 150 up. Omron Corp. is a good brand.

Omega Corp has a a set of catalogues available that tell you (that is SELL you) what parts you'll need, and also how to build it. The catalogues were free last time I checked. http://www.omega.com/
