    dear all,
    I,m Ricard, a italian student;
    for my project I have to settle on a supply vessel a crane, what must I do to limit the maximum distance and maximum angle of the crane?
    from the point of view of the structure what should I expect?
    how must i verify a new stability?

    What capacity is the vessel? What is the crane expected to lift? You are very vague in your questions. Even crude drawings help tremendously.
    All you need to know is in standard engineering texts.

    Shipboard crane rule #1....The suspended load is applied as if it's mass and CG is at the upper sheave box axle. After that everything falls out (as Bataan said) from the standard engineering/stability texts which will include dynamic seaway loads due to roll, pitch, and yaw.
