    Timothy,
Following along here and thanks for all the pics. I'm looking at every one. Is the transom cut out for a short shaft OB?. With the 18' do you think you've got the spray rails at the right height or is it a compromise because of the location of the seat stringers? I put mine too far up on the hull. I wouldn't move the existing one but I may put another below it. Spray rails are sooo important in a long low open boat when it gets choppy. I'd say get all the experience you can on the water and let the experience evolve into future boats. Thanks again.

yes, the transom is cut out for a short shaft. The actual transom height is 20" so I have that laid out in CAD also. The nice thing about the short shaft is, it's lighter and I can fit both transom pieces, the seats, knees, and breasthook on one sheet of marine plywood. The spray rail is mounted to be oposite the seat riser, but it's location seems about right. When the wind really kicks up your going to get a little wet. Slowing down helps.

    Cant Wait to see!!!!!

    Hey,

That's a very nicely designed canoe especially being 20 feet long, I am anxious to see what this canoe will look like when it's finished. Keep it up.

    GOOD LUCK,
    MANDESIGN;) ;) ;) ;)

This has nothing to do with the quality of design, construction or anything too worthwhile actually, but why is it referred to as a canoe? Isn't it more a boat than a canoe?

I would be very interested in a table of offsets and bow profile!

There's got to be more to it. If you put that stem on a battleship, that would make it a canoe.?

The keel, spray rails and outwales are installed and the bottom has 3 coats of paint. She comes off the mold tomorrow.

    Timothy,
Do you have some performance numbers for your 18? What does it weigh, what speed do you cruise at, how much load can you carry, etc?

I have been thinking about building a motor canoe for long river trips. It is nice to have some more data to compare to.

    Looks great.
