1974 Chris Craft aft deck dry rot

Bajansailor, the OP hasn't been seen here since his last post in September. Probably delayed or threw in the towel. I remember doing similar repairs some years ago during a restoration project. People think these repairs can be done in a weekend when in fact they can take months and even years to complete. It depends on how thorough you are.

 

I know this is an old post but I have replaced a back deck, full DIY, and it is a pretty big job. But when done the results were worthwhile to say the least. There are probably many other ways to do it than how me and my boat partner did it. In fact I heard that for $15-$20 grand you can have the deck measured and a form made and then glassed up with gel coat. But we only paid 20k for the whole boat and there was a LOT of stuff we wanted to do to it so we did it from scratch.
