OK so I have been restoring a 14 foot hi laker speedboat. Just the other day I got a second 14 hi laker free... hence it's going to be a lot of work, but I have experience and know more or less what I'm getting into. Once it's done I am thinking about putting a small pilothouse on it like a 14 cdory. What do people think?

Be very careful when adding superstructure to any boat that small, it will be very sensitive to additional weight and windage.

Some of those tended to bow steer radically in some conditions, as in people being ejected from the boat, this would probably make that tendency worse.

I saw a lot of these little fishing boats on the coast of Scotland. They seemed pretty seaworthy.

They weren't all Orkney boats. Probably not most of them. A lot of them looked home built.

Maybe put a battery, or water tank or fuel tank in the bilge. You could consider a little weighted stub-keel.

Any way you decide to go about it, test her in safe waters.
