I am in the Dominican Republic and can not buy a kayak or canoe. Importing is near impossible due to frustration with the minor officials and graft. I am a novice and need to know how difficult it is to learn an build my own, might even make a bussiness out of it since I am retired. So, anyone with infor about accquiring or building a plug or mold and a site or reference material for my education would be greatly appreciated. Help stop the payola, build my own.

If you just want to make one for yourself, why poly? The reason to go with rotomolded poly is for mass production. You can build your own with wood/epoxy/glass - it'll be lighter and perform better than a poly boat.

    Lots of plans available online.

I thought that I need poly for a sit on top. You think I would be better off with plans? Ideas on where to find?
