Hi everyone,
I’m Gianandrea, a naval architect and yacht designer based in Palma de Mallorca.
I’d like to share a Rhino plugin we developed called Swordfish 3D.
It runs entirely inside Rhino and it aims to cover the same kind of day to day workflow many of us do with other more famous tools...
Hi everyone,
I'm currently facing issues transferring a hull model from CATIA V5 to Maxsurf. Despite several attempts, I haven't been able to get the hull to display correctly in Maxsurf.
I tried using Rhino as an intermediate step: exporting from CATIA in IGES and STEP formats, importing into...
Winter Custom Yachts is seeking an experienced 3D modeler with yacht design education to join our engineering department.
Winter is a custom Carolina boatbuilder located in Swansboro North Carolina. They specialize in sport fishing vessels from 50’ to 80’.
Experience in Rhino is required...
I don't know why this happens. I got the offset table from my school project. I put them together as seen in the picture. But when i try to open that in maxsurf (dxf) it breaks into two piece and some lines became straight. WHAT CAN I DO?? I can't seem to find solution. Any advice?
By using internal Rhino commands (for resolving intersections and matching gaps), some experience in mesh algorithms, and couple of free days, I made a (shell/plate) mesh generator for your FEA.
See the short page on Prelimina (btw check out other tools there as well!):

I downloaded the PintleGudgeon RhinoHydro Rhino3d plugin from the Pingud website recently, but I see now that it has disappeared/been replaced by a dodgy website (don't google it, it will try to download a virus onto your computer). Anyways, is the author of the software on here? It's really...
For my bachelor thesis I use the ORC VPP and therefore have to create an .off file for it with the Rhino plug-in. After all other things have been defined (freeboard marks, etc.) I still get the following error message from the LPP.

Hi,
I am very much interested in knowing:
1. Do you make the 2D structural drawing first before making the 3D Structural Ship Design?
2. Which software do you use for 3D structural ship design?
3. Which software do you use for the 2D drawing/ production drawing to submit in the class?
4. If you...
Hi everybody,
My name is Lucas, I am a trained ship mechanic from Germany.
I was working on harbour and offshore tugs and research vessels.
At the moment my approach to ships is more on a hobby base.
I want to build some ship models from existing plans/ files to 3d-print them later on.
In the...
Hi,
I am doing stability calculation for a passenger vessel. I am modelling in Maxsurf. I have made the model in Rhino and then imported in Maxsurf. Now I have the following questions.
1. Do I need to design all the decks for stability calculation?
2. Do I need to trim the surfaces in the...
Hello, first of all sorry for my English but I'll try to do my best.
I'm having problems to export a hull from rhinoceros to maxsurf. I've tried to do the surface with "loft"and "surface from network of curves" but I always get the same result. I've also tried to rebuld the curves of the model...
Hi everyone,
I import rhino file to shipconstructor to expand the hull outer plate. In Rhino, surfaces join together, but after importing to shipconstructor, these surfaces are separated. I want these surfaces still join together, so how to do it like that?
Many thanks.
Good day all,
I have modelled a 68m Superyacht for a University project in Rhino;
I am pretty much done except I am adding the last pretty bits before I apply materials, do the lighting and render.
I was wondering if anyone has a 3d model of a Jetski, as I couldn't find one online.
GrabCAD has...
I have been struggling with adding steps to a hull model in Rhino, and wondered if anyone had some suggestions. If I have to explode the surfaces on the solid (closed) model, I need to be able to close it back up easily afterwards. I have been using the Orca CFD software and requires a perfect...
Dear All,
Good day!:):)
T0day I will share two videos demonstrating the Rhino hull modeling process with the help of our software.
As we know, the key factor to define a good surface in Rhino is to provide the well defined 3D Splines.
Once we get the well difined 3D splines, we can easily...
Hi everyone,
I am trying to run parametric transformation of hull created in Rhino. I set up the surface properties as symmetrical in Maxsurf . When I run the parametrization, it has failed everytime. Either it has given an error or it has scaled surfaces which were not a ship hull anymore...
