Looks like a fun project. I'd like to take a stab at it. Whats the deadline for submissions and what kind of timelines are we looking at to bring it from concept to the consumer?

    Dear Gary,

I am currently in my final year of a four year degree studying Marine Transport Design at Massey University (Auckland, New Zealand ). The course is accredited my RINA and I am a NZRINA council member.
The direction of the course provides us with the necessary skills to fully exploit our creativity in the design process. Covering key topics such as; drawing techniques, exterior and interior styling, cad modelling, cad renderings, cad animations, ergonomics, hull design, hydrodynamics, hydrostatics, aerodynamics, systems/powering, model making, construction processes etc.

I have experience in the New Zealand marine industry from boat building to 2D and 3D CAD modelling. I am currently designing a 12m recreational power catamaran for my final year project

I am interested in working with you as a conceptual designer, I look forward to hearing from you.

    Regards,

    Jarrod

We are still looking for an artist

Thank you, the Red sailboat was great, but can't spend 14 weeks on a model, at least at this time. The looks were very modern, not gaudy or to far out, just up to date and what we would like to do with out project.
Anyone interested in sending a sample of what they think would be along the lines of a modern cat should look like, please do, 75' long 35' wide power cat with pilot house and flybridge. Then an estimate of cost for one like the sample, then if it is along the lines we want to pursue, pencil, profile or ? then we could get started.
We have a budget for preliminary work and once we are on the right tract, its a lot bigger.
Seems artist send in an example, but thats it, maybe only have one idea, I don't know. As you can see from the pictures that they have allowed us to post, they are very good.
After a client sees these, picks something close to what they have in mind, then we have them contact the artist direct. They will go as far as they want with drawings of what they want, paying for them direct as they go.

    Dear Gary,

I'm not sure what you're looking for, is it pure the artist impression, or what grade of technical feasibility do you need? Like number of berths, engine space, etc.
How do you coop with interlectual property in case of publication?
    Nice project though!

Above should have explained that a bit. We need modern ideas for todays market, an artist who will work with the client and take them as far as they want to go in creating their new cat. We start with a basic idea based on what the clients are looking for, maybe in size or models, post a few ideas, which are on our site now, kind of a display of your work in hopes someone will like it and give you a nice paid job out of it in your spare time.
We on the other end , have a project now that is for a 72' long power cat, which we have a budget for. Randals concept at the bottom of the front page is an example of the pilot house model and inside are a couple more listed as 77.85,92, etc. in the power cat section. This concept we will take as far as we can when we find an artist on the same page.

Cool, and it all starts with an idea in the mind and imagination of a person inspired.

    sample of current work

hey Gary, very interesting thread. It is very dissapointing to see a lack of aesthetic innovation in the marine industry and it is great to see what guys like you are doing. I have attached a few pictures of a 60 foot power-cat that I am currently designing. I could post up some sketches more to your specification if you would be interested
