I currently have a 4.3L 1987 engine with what I believe is a 1.84 stern drive on it that needs replacing because of wear and tear. I have located a 1.98R S/N A402289. I have read that the 1.98R is an option for the 4.3L engine. Woulds this stern drive be compatible with the 4.3L?

The 1.98 ratio is usually installed with 4 cylinder engines. It will most likely make the V6 over rev.

You will need to Add Pitch to the Prop - probably 2 inches.
