Had the roller on the gangway worn away the board on the floating dock?

That house in the background is in an idyllic location - how wonderful to have your own dock in front of your house, and I am sure that the view is amazing. What is the typical tidal range there?

No. What actually happened is that the weight of the ramp was far too much for the dock structure, and it was sagging like a bowl.
I blocked up the ramp at low tide. At high tide I pulled the deck boards and added 3 deep section pt boards to reinforce that area. They are 2x8 or 38mm x 185mm. You can see where I scribed them to fit around the pontoons. In another image you can see how I forced them in with a scissor jack from an old Toyota.

Tide range there is typically around 10' or 3m. Sometimes much higher.

    Nice work.

What were you thinking using plated screws on those hinges?
Are the hinges plated as well?
The money spent on those could have gone towards stainless...
What are you, some kind of a rookie? :)

EDIT: Looks like you need a backing plate on that swinging door.
It would go a long way in keeping water out.

Tides in your area will exceed 5m this month!
And with varying atmospheric pressure could vary up to 0.5m!

And on that note, soon we will repaint her. But we haven't chosen colours.

    This colour would be nice.

There's sure a lot of potential in what you could do with that billboard space.
    A pattern or graphic.

I hope the bottom can be prepted and coated too.

That's one way to make friends.

Are you interested in a graphic or paint scheme on the side?
Or, do you just want to leave it plain?

    What are the dimensions 25' x 5' ?

It is about 24 by 4. A single colour will look like a big slab, or wall, so maybe a swoosh, or a stripe or something.

Will Gilmore has generously offered to make an artistic input.
Just a simple graphic, no orcas?
