    Hello all
I currently use AutoCad and Sketchup and have not had any experience with any of the marine design software.

From what I have read here, Freeship seems to be the program to use - I'll download as soon as I have made this post.

This is my first post - hopefully I have posted it in the correct topic area.

Attached are some photo's of a hydrofoil that I recently inherited.
    (Sorry for picture quality)
Will be soon stripping paint etc.
I would like to model this accurately in 3D.
I have attached a DWG file with plan + elevation views that I have created.
Have only modelled 3D object in Sketchup previously.
Tried to model it in 3D but am stuck on the hull - especially the bow (refer photo's)

What's the best way to tackle it ?

    Regards and thanks

Background: The craft is an AQUAVION 10P (10 passenger) built by Fokker Aircraft for Aviolanda in Holland. Most were exported to Australia. This particular one is serial # 31. Aluminium deck, hull and foils. Fibreglass cabin top. Powered by twin Volvo Penta sterndrives.

Anyone know anything about these craft - I have a bit of historical info and a photo of the production line - should I post these + what category ? ..... thanks

For this kind of modelling I think Rhino is easier to use than Freeship, BUT that's maybe because I'm more familiar with it.
Whit Rhino you could measure som points along the edges (keel, chine etc) and then model those curves as accurate as you like. Then you have several methods to create surfaces between the curves.

    Thanks RT

Been away for a few days. Only got to install FreeShip a few minutes ago.
Will see how I go - otherwise will have to check out Rhino.
I'll see if Rhino have a downloadable demo prog.

    Regards
