I have a 1992 31 foot Chris Craft Crowne with twin King Cobras. Had it up for sale since I retired and let the insurance lapse since it was in dry dock for sale. Someone stole both outdrives and I was quite shocked to find out they're about 7500 dollars apiece. Does anyone know if I can install standard cobras or mercruisers, etc.? There's no way I can afford $15000 for the Kings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Tom

Well, Nutcase, you won't be able to just bolt new outdrives onto the existing transom assemblies. If you put Mercs or Volvos on, you're replacing everything from the driveshaft back, plus getting things like water lines, steering, trim etc. to work. Try ebay for new Kings, or consider rebuilt units. The Cobra's a much smaller drive, not compatible with the King.
