    Hi,

In case somebody can find this helpful, we have just launched an online video-based course on Sail Design where there is a complete section dedicated to "How sails work" (velocity triangle, wind gradient, lift generation, flow around sails, pressure distribution, aerodynamic coefficients and forces, aerodynamics studies, and sails interaction).

The course also has other sections focusing on Sails Geometry, Materials, Sails Design, Sails Manufacturing, and Sails Inventories.

The Sail Design course is now open for registration in Early Access mode. The Early Access period starts today and will end on the official course launching date: April 29th. Students enrolling in the course during the Early Access period will benefit from a reduced price and be the first to experience the course content as we upload it.

Today, the course contains eleven (11) lessons with more than two and a half hours (2.5 hours) of videos available. From today until April 29th, we will upload new videos (aerodynamics lessons are the next in the uploading queue) and content every day until the course is completed before the official launching date. On April 29th, we will officially launch the course, which will be available at its final price. Early Access students, those who enrolled in the course at a reduced price before the official launching, will have access to the final version of the course without needing to register anew or pay any additional fee.

The course instructor graduated with full marks in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Genoa, Italy, and obtained a Ph.D. in Sail Aerodynamics at the Yacht Research Unit of the University of Auckland, New Zealand. He started his professional career as a sail designer to be soon promoted to the role of Head Sail Designer. Currently, he works as a Head Sail Designer and Production Supervisor for internationally renowned sailmaker companies. This is a link to the video where he introduces himself:

    RINA endorsement
After a thorough evaluation, the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) has found that the Navalapp course Sail Design 1 meets the requirements for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of the members of the Institution. Therefore, RINA has considered that the course warrants their recognition and has issued a Certificate of Endorsement.

During the evaluation, RINA studied different aspects of the course, such as learning aims, content and structure, whether the information is up-to-date and is factually correct, students’ evaluations of the course, the supporting information and materials, the instructors’ expertise, the method by which the students are evaluated, and Navalapp’s organization standards.
