    surprisingly stable

I dont expect nor would try 80 on first model but I expect quad 300s would push 72 and feel comfortable

The box-tunnel boat is much faster than the boats that have symmetrical hulls, but there has always been concerns they don't track as well. The symmetrical kind can be amply fast, of course, the one shown here at the 15 second mark is a 35' race boat designed by the gentleman the video is about.

No I got one friend that will weld for the plans and another highly interested.

I might sell them if it works out well.

Seriously though last time we went we cruised home averaging 50mph. Went another time on cousins Freeman and cruised for 40 miles(mississippi river to venice) at 63mph up river. lol

Yea Im starting to see the different takes on the hulls

I found the thread on the foils. Fincat worked with Hysucat to produce them.

The problem was if you were in a following sea the foil would drag you down into the wave making putting on the brakes heavily. Instead of bouncing the foil would dig into the wave .

I have a panga on order now at 5mpg cruise. But I see fuel differently than most.

Everytime I go I have 3-5 people. Split that up and your looking at $140-$250 per person.

Owner takes double share of meat.

I and my friends are good fisherman I like to think. Last year my meat prices were $2.50 a pound for snapper and $5 a pound for Tuna.

    Average......

(both are $10lb at the store)

Also considering the Miller xmt 304/350 or Lincoln invertec 350 pro

    What do you think?

Mind you I plan on learning downhill stick for upcoming transition to possible pipeline work and want a good all around machine.

There is a world of difference between a panga, and what you envisage with the cat. I sometimes think alloy boats spook some fish, less a problem in deep water of course.

Getting back to not wanting to fork out for a "Contender", well a mono would be about half the work to build. Up in North Queensland, where the Barrier Reef is a long way out, and the trade winds whip up a nasty chop, cats are not always preferred, tending to hit pretty hard at certain angles to oncoming seas, a lot depends on the axis of prevailing winds, and your direction of travel.

jwells11 we need to get in touch, I can help you with both the CNC if you are ok with a high definition plasma 40' x 12' table, extremely clean cuts with no burr on edges. I can also help with paint.
I am very interested in the plans as I will be building a 35'-40' aluminum catamaran with a pilot house. Working on my own design now but would be all over a proven design.
I also have access to top quality certified welders in aluminum at affordable subcontractor rates for when you get into a bind with welding or fitting for that matter.

Have you been on the water, in one of those, (TwinVee 36), jwells 11 ? The tunnel looks a little shallow aft, but the hulls are an interesting shape. A lot of planing cats use a very long constant vee section, but I have seen the odd one where the constant section is somewhat shorter, and then gradually increases to the forefoot, the ride seemed to be better. Perhaps not so easy to execute as a developable surface, though.

I’m just talking about the pilot house Design. Twin Vees are two low to the water in my opinion as well.

I plan on doing a freeman and depending on how much flex I can get out of the metal will be the curve of the tunnel.

potentially maybe a 45ish plate if not that much bend to make that corner strong.

The thing I’m going back and forth is how high to make the back of the tunnel. I will probably go high though for better ride, better reverse, but less overall lift for speed
