Had a few days to move about and track down guys who run 26 wide wahls and one who runs a 28.5.

Rule of thumb from all was 7.6 on 10 plus 2 for the big gen on light ship. 7.2 for the 28.5 wide. Asked about the 5 knot speed, none have ever willingly gone 5 so had no ideas. Rode across the harbor on one completely dry, they move pretty good light. Guy said they are spooky light offshore and need a tank full before they behave right.

Guess you could do math off of 10 gph at 9600 gallons and 7.6 knots....

Fuel could easily be expanded but fishing boats keep it under 10k for regulatory reasons.

Van peer now noyo boatworks built a beautiful boat 10 years ago named the chasina bay. In my mind it's the much better hull form. Longer skinnier but still industrial and rugged, just without the excess reserve buoyancy to drag around.

Comfisherman, thanks for the extra info. For sure, they are working, so like to to fast..I like 5kts. But still, it's possible, but probably not worth it. For the costs, one can get a more practice boat. I'll check out the other boat you mentioned too.
