I need some ideas PLEASE HELP pics attached !

Hello,

I currently own a project boat. Ive been working on it forever. I have done a complete restoration from the ground up. Well, heres the thing. I got the boat painted by my uncle and he told me he would do it for free, but he would pick the color and surprise me with the color. His been working on million dollar yachts for 25yrs and the paint used was awlgrip, but i had second thought about the color. Well, i just purchased a pair of 225HP mercurys and i was thinking to add a black touch to the boat to match the engines.

I was wondering how the boat would look with the bottom (white portion) painted shiny awlgrip black straight back eliminating the banana shape it has in the back, sort of what a flotation line would do. and a black rub rail with the radar arch in black.

Is anyone here good with photoshops that could help me out? i would appreciate it greatly. I could send them lots of pics if needed.

I would even pay for it, i just want to see what it would look like.

Black would be a TERRIBLE choice against the sea foam green. In fact, there are very few colors that will work with that green. I would leave the bottom white. Paint the motors instead (seriously).

Yes Black look nice new but over the year will fade and you will try to do the paint job again.Black can show visible scatch mark bcause of the contrast. I think green and black are not suitable paint combo.

I think that your uncle has choosen a wonderful color for your boat. Your black engines should look fine. If anything, I would only add a black stripe (fine/narrow and near the top of the gunwales) to the boats hull or add some seafoam green to the engines to help with blending the two together.

The boat that I am restoring was once painted that color also. My boat is 46 years old though, and has been painted many colors.

I think the Mercs will look fine against that hull. (They look good against darn near anything, to be honest.) If you want to colour-match, I think I'd sooner paint the motor cowlings to match the hull, than vice-versa.

 

I agree with vkrue if you add any black, stick with a small stripe either 6'' below gunnel or 6'' above chine. But wait until youve finished building the boat. with black gunnel trim, and black window insert that might be all you need. Maybe paint the trailer black with red pinstripe. or instead of complimenting the black of the mercs,look for a smaller accent on them, Red,maybe siver or gray?

 

Go for it. It seems a good idea.
You can put your pictures in a photo program and "paint" the boat that way. Then you can tell if you like it or not.

your idea sounds great with the color(s)...bold transitions/contrasts...nobody mentioned the 250/gal racing bronze bottom paint...oh well

I just did some quick photo shops of the black hull and the bronze hull that some one sugested.

 

i would go back white because the fish don't care what the bottom looks like , lol , really it look good white go on e-bay look for some decals to break it up beautiful boat goodluck

 

Not the black. The yellow bottom might be Ok if you tone it down to a creme color instead of the strong yellow.

I like what you already have.
It is not until you start to play with the colours that you realise how hard it is to get something that looks as good.
I think your uncle did a great job.
But here are a few examples of where my mucking around took me.

Is it actually white underneath, or is it grey as it appears?
