What will ground out first? That is a good question and one that I spoke at length with my boat repair guy and Jason Minor, the owner of Hydrofin. (BTW, they now have a Tri Toon foils System). The motor will definitely ground out first, by about 6 " on my pontoon. When it was installed, they measured the height of the trailer bunks above the cross bars and installed the foils at such an angle that I had plenty of room to clear the cross bars as I trailered the pontoon. Second worry was beaching it. It's a 24 foot boat, and the foils sit back at about 15 feet or so. When I beach it only the front foot or so is in the sand and when you look under, (depending on the slope of the beach) i have never seen less than a foot under the foils to the sand.

It's a pretty well thought out system that really is a "performance" modification. For all you gear heads you remember the lumpy cams and and wide tires things? Well this mod surpasses anything you have ever done to you car as a kid, unless you put a supercharger on it...seriously. I couldn't be more pleased. I did consider the waterglide thing but this Hydrofin is really pretty impressive
