    There are quite a few rim drive thrusters out there, last I looked over 1MW and just about all the larger thruster companies sell them.
    They have gone on a few boats and ferries as main propulsion but most as tunnel thrusters.
    Huge space saver in a AHTS to PSV or any boat, just the tunnel and not motor and gearbox in the middle.
    Seen photos of them on drop downs as well.
    They can swallow large solid objects and rope will just go through them.
