    You are right SM,
better solve before all critical points than after...and the weight/speed seams to be a hughe problem for this design.

I had in the past the same problem with a military fast interceptor boat..12m and 50 knots with a payload. I have proposed 3 x 300 engines in order to reach the contract speed not only on the paper but during sea trial with B2 and 0.250 m waves height.
They doesn't accept and the design never started.....only to say that sometimes is better to renonce....

For us the speed is not a problem or the load, but they put restrictions on us with engine choice and material.
We would have no problem if we where free to use one off our composit hull's and surface pircing proppelers.

We have made kevlar hulls reatching 55kn with diesels and surface pircing propelers for miletary use.
Aluminium is something we normaly only use on 20-45m so we don't have the understanding off building this kind off hull.

This boat is to be used in harbour so I can not understand why they want outboards.
Waterjets would be bether concerning that alot off junk that float in harbors (pallet) can damage the outboards specaly at this high speed's

Why 50 knots in harbour ? Mistery....
For harbour service you have right, it would be better to install waterjet but...the client does have always right..isn't ?

Chasing smuglers that try to get away I would gues.

Sometime I suspect that the person that first used those words was a complete jerk.

The customer is allways right about he's nead, but not allways about how to get it.

I can't understand why they nead aluminium. We can make them a FRP hull, CFRP hull, Kevlar, sandwitch, but no freedom. If nobody else is able to make it then maybe they will take a other aproatch.
