I'm making some progress in the basement shop on the dinghy storage problem that I've been grappling with. What you see there is what I call a "rotating frame".

This will mount on the swim platform. The first photo shows the frame in the deployed position. The second shows the frame in the "stowed" position.

When deployed the dinghy will attach to the horizontal pipe using a pair of Weaver Snap Davits. It then rotates 135 degrees to rest on the frame. The frame then pivots 45 degrees to the stowed position. The dink is upside down when stowed.

The rectangular structure that extends out on the right side of the frame will be a 3' x 1' platform. I'll be able to step off the dink onto the platform.

This is just a mock up. The final version will be made from anodized 6063 schedule 40 Aluminum pipe (1.5").

Still have some details to work out but the geometry works just fine.

Thanks to all who posted regarding this topic, you kept me thinkin'!

SO many times these threads are just left open ended and people who took time and made an effort to help and contribute never know the end result. Maybe sometimes there is no end result and the OP just gives up or loses interest. I just wanted those who followed along here to know that I appreciated their help and did finish my dinghy storage rack. I was able to get the dingy stowed for the first time today. The rack worked out as I had planned and I'll be taking the little dinghy on my trips from now on. Thanks to all who weighed in on this!
