I am rebuilding an early petrol engine launch built by Saunders around 1905. A few years ago i picked up an engine for her, not original but suitable & in keeping with the design.
Engine is a Gaines Universal Six cylinder Sidevalve. Capacity approx 152ci in or 2.5 ltr 65 Hp
Gaines were a British company who imported & sold engines made by Universal Motor Co Of Oshkosh Wisconcin prior to WW2. Despite much searching & enquiries all over the place i have found zero info on these engines.
Question, Does anyone have or know where i can source a Manual for this engine?

Thanks guys, I have seen the last link before, It would seem the Gaines Universal was a rebadged Blue Jacket Six or All American Six, likewise the gearbox, though the Gearbox has a brass plate stating "Manufactured" by Gaines Gearbox & propellor company Brentford Middlesex on it the Internals are marked Paragon!
The small British company was obviously just buying in Mass produced engines & gearboxes & sticking their name on them.
Nothing new under the sun, Beta Marine, Nanni both sell Kubota engines here only difference is the colour!
