Now we wait to see if the time allowances granted for their assistance with Kevin Escoffier's rescue will shuffle the positions.Regardless of that it has been a fascinating race and I have huge respect for all the competitors who make the finish. To have the leading boats so close is incredible.

Boris has collided with a fishing boat 90 miles out. He is back underway at 7 knots now, and won't make the podium at that speed. He would have had third place with a clean last 100 miles.

Jean is a really great sailor. He was honest and spoke about the stress and the strain that the sailors had to endure. And his boat had no foils, with foils the stress must be even worse. When the race started Guillaume Verdier said in an interview, that he considers the noise in the boat unbearable and thinks that there is a rule change required. He said that they must come up with a new design so that the skippers can get sleep.

Armel Tripon seems to have been doing some odd manoeuvres this morning.

He said in this message in French that he will sail back and forth offshore Vigo to Porto, waiting for the passage of the 2 big Lows in the Biscay bay, and then (around Monday) he will head at last Les Sables for an arrival Tuesday-Wednesday. Funny to note that he did exactly the same kind stand-by during the last Route du Rhum 2 years ago, then offshore Lisboa, to finally win the Multi 50 race.
