Ah, to be such a free spirit as to design your own boat, on the fly!

    You go DogCavalry!

Lol! I'd sleep better at night working from published plans that had been built a few hundred times. Then I could phone up the club members and ask about stuff.

And I will just take a moment to point out that I'm building a boat that Bluebell will be the first pilot of, and he's never seen it. Hint hint...

DogCavalry, have now worked my way thru all the pages of your Sea Sled design/build.
Much kudos for a job undertaken to build a good boat whilst having to overcome issues unrelated to the actual building efforts.
That one sentence in your very first post in this thread has stuck with me.
I can acknowledge that perhaps some of the members on this forum might think me a heretic,, (or at best delusional,:)) for even thinking about a CA in these "modern times" as being a useful boat, but that's ok.
I've been studying CA designs for decades, but have seen only two in person, and both were smaller than the one you mentioned.
Anyway, pertaining to that CA boat you worked on; do you remember any details of its construction?
Things like frame scantlings/spacing, plank thickness, other figures such as beam/draft/displacement.
Perhaps this isn't the right thread to post this in,, no wish to derail anything concerning the Sea Sled.

Rangebowdrie, I don't remember much, but the fellow I built it with might remember. I'll call him. It was 1992.

Fortunately, I have no speed barrier to penetrate,
    only unknown handling characteristics,
and a plethora of other unknown variables...

    These include John's potentially reaction,
    completely unpredictable.

    RIP Chuck Yeager.

Oh I'm sure John will be all smiles BB. All of the research that he did, he's building Serenity the correct way. There's no better feeling than the feeling of riding in the boat you built.

People are the most dangerous cargo I've ever carried!
I'm sure he'll be fine, just part of the "variables appraisal".
    I can't wait!

But, it's snowing here now... a bit unusual for these parts, along the coast anyway.
He's building a good boat and has a great attitude, what else is there...

It's freaking 60° F down here in South Louisiana. I remember 30 years ago it would be close to freezing. The seasons are shifting.
