    Hey Rumars, thanks for the link and input!

    That brushless AC motor looks interesting, is there a good saildrive and propellor that would work well with that motor that you recommend? Thanks again for all the tips!!

    you might not like the prices.
    But you cannot compare diy hack system on electric side to a proven professional diesel option. I mean you can but it's not very objective way of looking at things.

    I wouldn't recommend other lithium Batts than LFP / LiFePo4. they are much safer.

    There have been plenty of LiPo fires on manufactured, let alone DIY systems.

    Any saildrive (or marine gearbox if you want a conventional shaft) will work, the rpm range of that motor is similar to combustion engines. Mounting the motor to the saildrive will require some custom fabrication.
