Hi everyone! This is my first post here after much lurking.

Im modeling my new rc speed boat and have most of the things figured out, but i cant for the life of me make a nice looking smooth transitioning canopy whithout a seam line with the deck in my design. I have one with a creased edge which i like, but i want to recreate one like other boats i like have. Any suggestions on how to achieve the geometry so it looks like in the pictures?

Simply making the canopy edge non creased gives pretty bad results.

    It looks fine.

    What is the problem?

I think he wants a fillet radius between the deck and the canopy.

This is very basic shape if I understood well as
As said you need to add more vertex in FreeShip for a better edge transition but this harder than your model. and maybe the understanding of basic rules in subdivision can help for better modelling

I have read the manual already, but i still dont know how to achieve the geometry i want. I managed to get a pretty nice smooth cabopy today, but its still not so nice, its quite wonky.

Also, what am i doing wrong so that there is that depression in the middle (red arrow)?

    Thanks!

Hi first of all this is a main problem working with FreeShip or DELFTShip, and this both that assume an half of hull by default make a creased edges on the middle and to avoid the depression and you can mirror the half to other side join together, or create extra vertices in the middle in order to have a surfaces continuity, below and image showing rules for Nurbs patches continuity but this also is true for subdivisions surfaces.

you can also make a tweaking of vertex pulling them down to keep them aligned

If you can't get the computer aided design right, think how hard it's going to be to build in real life!

Dont worry, i have a 3d printer for that! Then i will sand and dill the plugs, make a FG mold and then make hulls. I have aome experience with that already and i have demoldability in mind :)
