China aims for 'carbon neutrality by 2060'

China's president surprised the UN gathering by making a bold statement about his country's plans for tackling emissions.

"We aim to have CO2 emissions peak before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060."

Until now China has said it would peak its emissions by 2030 at the latest, but it has avoided committing to a long-term goal.

You keep missing the point. If you want the federal government to be gigantic and super powerful, you need amendments to the Constitution ratified by two thirds of the states granting those powers. Much of what the fed does now, is usurped, without Constitutional authority. We conservatives are trying desperately to trim those overlong toe nails hooked in our hides. We don't want to add more illegal claws.
But let's face facts. If you thought you could get the States to grant the feds more powers, you would already have those amendments. You can't get them, so you try more usurpation. Stop.

You claim you want a democratic government. I want a legal Constitutional federal government.

You miss the point. The government doesn't need to be "gigantic and super powerful" to regulate CO2 emissions.

The government (usually) doesn't make battleships and tanks and bombs. It merely creates the specifications for those weapons and leaves it to the private sector to figure out how to engineer and manufacture them.

Likewise, the government needs to create the specifications and offer incentives for CO2 emission control, but then rely on the private sector to carry out the program.

Conservatives should feel quite comfortable with this process.

Your faction should be comfortable with clear concise legislation that isn't barrels of fat pork.

Sounds good to me. Let's rescind that 1 trillion dollar tax break for the wealthy that "your faction" recently passed! <laugh>

The problem is too many wannabe masterminds have no idea how to do anything much less run other people's lives but they try anyway and really foul everything up.

2060 sounds too late but China is probably the largest producer of goods in the world. At least they are heavily investing into nuclear power.

Majority of Canadians and Americans agree on climate change issues, poll suggests

A majority of Canadians (64 per cent) and Americans (53 per cent) believe that global warming, or climate change, "is a fact and is mostly caused by emissions from vehicles and industrial facilities."

About one-quarter of respondents from both countries said it "is a fact and mostly caused by natural changes."

Only 7 per cent of Canadians and 14 per cent of Americans said "global warming is a theory that has not yet been proven."

I always sleep better knowing your power of persuasion is on the wane.
Plus, I was very tired when I put head to pillow. It was a busy day.

It was warming but autumn is here. It's going to be a cold winter. Australia needs a good, wet spring.

climate change and global warming do not mean AGW. Sure climates changing. Is it man made? You cannot ethically claim agreeing voices to climate change makes them automatic endorsers it's human caused.
