    Does anyone know a company that would x ray test 14 bronze keelbolts on a 70 year old ,24 metre yacht at la ciotat in the south of france, thank you

    my guess - the 'bolts' are cast into the lead ballast, more like studs, & not removable. The usual way to evaluate is to undo nuts, & drop the keel. Using an xray to assess the 'bolts' with keel in place means penetrating the timber keelson, floors, planking & girders & might not be effective.

    X-rays will not go through lead, so they are useless to check the bolts inside the ballast. Ultrasound is an effective way of inspecting bolts. It can be done without removal if the ends are accessible. I inspect structural bolts with ultrasound on a regular basis.
