What does One design mean?

    You want to build a cruising sailboat, excellent. Every cruising boat needs a tender, a dinghy that allows you to get ashore when on the hook. Perhaps your first, practice build could be your sailing tender. This would give you both the skills to build and a chance to learn more about sailing.
    I recommend the Optimist as a versatile sailing tender that is easy to tow, easy to ship and easy to build.

    You posted before that you understand it is dumb to build a boat without experience. Maybe you think that designing a boat will be fun, but there is a lot of tedious work involved. Try one of the simplest things: calculating weights.
