RRT, I'll try to get one for you. Most of my older pictures were on a computer that died. I sold it (the DINGY) to a neighbor for his son. I'll try to get a couple for you from him. No promises but will try. The picture you posted looks like mine. Could be they just measured differently. I'll see if he'll take a pic of the capacity plate also.

    Hi All:

I have had an 8' Scout Sailing Dingy for awhile. The Rudder wood block on the rear back top of the dingy has started to rot away. Does anyone have an idea what type of wood (block) is used to hold the rudder in place? Is it a hardwood or what?
The dimensions are 12" long X 6"wide X 1.25" (approximate) thick. Can you tell what year the boat is by the Serial number?

    Thanks,

    J. Sullivan

I also just bought an Eli sailing dinghy "Scout Sailor" and really would like to get a copy of the original manual, or at least advice on sailing it. I'll be glad to pay for the manual.

I just purchased an 8-foot Eli with most of it's shell equipment but unfortunately the masked had been broken. Does anyone know where I could obtain a mast or provide Dimensions so that I can construct one perhaps a picture if possible. Thanks, Alex

    Eli Sailing Dinghy - free
I'm hoping to find someone who wants an Eli and is willing to restore it.

This boat has been sitting unused for years. The fiberglass shell is very dirty but otherwise OK, but the wooden core for the centerboard housing rotted away - needs to be refashioned from marine ply and re-glass coated, and bonded to the shell. The wooden stern piece for the rudder is in bad shape. But the rudder and centerboard are fine; I have the mast, boom, sail … all seem to be in decent shape.

I never had any documentation. The boat is about 9’6” stern to bow, and about 4’ 6” in beam. I imagine folks want spares, but I’d prefer someone who wants to restore it. Located in the south shore of RI. Any interest?

I have an 8’ Eli rowing dinghy. Does anyone know the type of wood used for the seats? Or have a suggestion for replacement (love the blue color so would make the replacements match).
