For what it's worth I have a 12 ft aluminum boat with 8 inch tyres on the trailer; the alloy rims have integrated hubs. You remove the wheel and bearings to change the tyre. I was worried about such small wheels but I tow it at 100 kmh and the tyres and bearings are cold every time I check them.

I will have a look when I go home Friday. It is a local Australian made trailer. The wheels in your pic look the same.

That looks like a standard 4.80/4.00-8 trailer tire which has been widely used in the US for at least six decades. My impression is 8" wheels and tires have been less common on new trailers in recent years.

it was later admitted that rolling the Reliant Robin was only acheived by putting smaller wheels on one side and the front, and on a slope. With the standard wheels , the weight of the engine and gearbox is so low down, they could not roll a Robin.

The aluminum alloy rim integrated hub spares a lot of weight and costs, although the latter depends on the manufacturer and the sales chain.

A great many Dinghy trailers in the UK are still manufactured with 8 inch wheels, they are capable of meeting all UK transport regs and quite safe at legal speeds, (and illegal having seen a few pass me).

My own small boat Trailer has 8 inch wheels , it has safely done a journey of over 80 miles, with the boat on board, though most journeys are just the 10 miles to the sailing club... The boat weighs 1/2 a ton....

Oh 6 PR = 6 plys making up the basis for the tyre, the lawn mower version only has 2 or 4 Plys, the heaviest duty 8 inch tyre I've seen was 8 ply.. for a bomb trolley.
Yes always run those tiny tyres at full pressure or the casing may rotate on the wheel..

The huge Jeremy Claxon always sitting on the roll side also helped I'll guess.

Thanks, the 6 ply figure is also represented by the ‘‘C’’ on light truck and trailer tires.

Wikipedia: Tire Code Load Range Ply Rating

    Load Range Code (represented Ply Rating) - A (2) - B (4) - C (6) - D (8) - E (10) - F (12) - G (14) - H (16) - J (18) - L (20) - M (22) - N (24) -

As it was classified a bike for drivers licensing purposes why not add training wheels up front as an aftermarket solution?

So another exploding saddle tank trick, but done for laughs and not as "journalism"?

Thanks very much for that document. I have looked for years for any information on the Lean Machine concept.

The title of the document I have is : Evaluation of electric and Hybrid 3-wheeled vehicles for handling and stability. Volume 11: Technical Report
By Systems Technology, inc. Hawthorne, Ca, Sep 1981. Paul G. Valkenburgh, Richard H. Klein, Henry T. Szostak.

I'm glad you enjoy having it now, I've found the Lean Machine document on the Wikipedia page Three-wheeler, as reference #31.

I'll later see if the document you named pops up for me, as I'm now kinda studying ‘‘salt water welding machines’’ on the thread Real Ocean News in post #145.
