Mothquito with "Increased Foiling System"

    These mostly planning appendages would appear to yield an extremely rough ride in even moderate chop. Breakages are going to be common?

    Are you saying that you think the main foils would be "mostly planing"? I sure don't think so......... As to the rough ride: Dr. Sam told me that the Rave in the right chop felt like a truck going over a bumpy dirt road because of the wand response to short steep waves. I would think the mostly angled "V" foil of the Mothquito would be a lot smoother than a wand system in serious chop........ But I think maybe the hull(s) of the Mothquito would make getting to takeoff speed problematic in bad chop.

    I think you're right. As long as the tips are out of the water, the foils should act just like V foils.

    And the high & low pressure situation you mention shouldn't occur until the sideforce exceeds the total weight (assuming foil dihedral angles of 45°). Most boats don't have enough righting moment for that condition to ever happen.
