Alexanov, do you use any cylindrical surfaces with the the ruling lines parallel? This is equivalent to the cone vertex being an infinite distance away.

 

Is curvature continuity important for developable surface hulls? For the resistance? Does that create more turbulence and drag? Or is that negligible if you fair your hull by sanding?

 

Sheet materials will naturally bend with continuous curvature except where supported by frames, etc. The discontinuities in curvature in the designed shape will become areas with more rapid change of curvature. I strongly doubt there will be an significant hydrodynamic consequences. The most visible effect would probably be if the hull is finished directly with gloss paint. Some distortion might be visible in reflections on the surface.

 

In Shape Maker we have cylindrical surfaces as separate type.

 

Probably, but only for high speed. We test different fairing quality of hull shape with speed 14 knots - no effect at all. But definitely curvature you will see it on finished an painted hull.
