I am happy you are back with us! I assume you are asking about my 33- see it under the big pink sail a few posts back :). I decided to go sailing rather than make it fold. Between the cost and weight of a folding system and for me, the final deal breaker, I would have to raise the rear beam to make it work. The raised beam would have restricted my already small cockpit more than I am willing to accept. It takes a good day and two guys to set it up or take it down, including stepping the mast, but it is all pretty simple. I might still use the folding design on a Dragonfly 800 that I have added to my fleet.
The 33 has been a lot of fun and sails better than I expected. It keeps winning races too, not bad for a fifty year old design.

Are the Buccaneer 33 plans available? I bought the 24' plans from EZFold, and have the 28' and 40' ones, but seem to have missed the 33' plans if they are actually somewhere to be found, downloaded and studied....

Hi Shark, I am interested in what shows up here, I never found 33 plans when I was looking, but there are bound to be some still around. There were a lot of 33s built.
On an easier note, I see you are in Georgia, I live in Atlanta and I have a 33 at Lake Lanier and my old 24 belongs to a friend- come sailing and see what a Buc is like. I keep my boat in the water and usually it is ready to go.

That's a really nice Tri; really looks great! I'll get in touch later this spring and see if I can sail with you on Lake Lanier.

Thanks Shark, I am proud of it. Please get in touch, and on nice days, this is a good time to be out on the lake. Spring here usually has good wind and very few power boats.

Hi, I greet owners and friends of Buccaneers. I'm a modeler from the Czech Republic. I now build a Buccaneer 28 at 1: 8.5 scale. I need for finishing as a RC model some photos of a real trimaran Buccaneer 28. Especially details - reels, harnesses and color design.
    Thanks Standa

    Hi
Bucc 33 plans have been found and loaded into PDF's. The plans are for the ply version with a foam glass hull option. Hopefully will be uploaded soon

Also Crowther Spindrift 37 cat plans have been found and are in PDF format and could be uploaded if of any interest.

Yes, a mystery donor has contacted me with the Bucc 33 plans, and a swag of various other Crowther plans.
I’ll get them onto my media fire page soon.

If you look on the Multihull Structure Thoughts thread you will find many plan sheets for the above designs. Eventually all will be revealed.

Would love to have a look at spindrift plans, for history and comparison sake alone! Be nice if a collective were actually to come together with all these plans in one spot. Shame to lose all this info to time.

All the Spindrift 37 plan PDF's are on Multihull Structure Thoughts from pages 6 thru to about 10. Download each PDF plan into your personnel directory and you will be able to build a good boat. There should be about 12 PDF's of the Spindrift 37 plans. The Spindrift 40 was a very close cousin but built in wood. The Spindrift 45 was structural similar but heavier in all dimensions. Also download the 2 PDF's C106 from page 4. This will show you the advances in cat design and construction over the intervening 20 years.

thanks! great thread as well, you had me at aluminum space frame! lol something i have been meaning to look into and do tests on in real world. I know CA sticks to it as well as maybe 2 out of 4 epoxies I have tried, but I'm very curious about it. As I get up to speed again here I plan to pour through that hole thread, and see what garys been up to! See how much more he's done with Sid.

That is the best looking 33/36 I have seen- really nice. The extra length and the fixed beams really open up the interior space. I wonder if it was scaled up or just stretched?
Thanks for posting it, lots for me to study :)
