I have a 25hp 1999 johnson outboard,I bought a new fuel pump from Hong Kong.
The description they gave seemed to fit the bill.I fitted it,and the engine idled no probs, but when I increased the revs, the engine sputtered and coughed before it gained any revs.
On this particular model, the fuel pump feed to the carb has a lot smaller dia outlet,I thought changing the nipple off the old pump on to the new pump would be the answer.
The fuel passing through the clear inline filter was hardly visible.
With a little checking,it was totally the wrong pump. The correct OEM part number is-438555
The model/serial number of the engine is-J25RLEEB ( produced in December 1999)
I won't be buying anything in future without checking the OEM part number first.
Glad I didn't take it out to sea,I would have had to chug back on my 6hp Evinrude outboard.

I don't know about Hawaii, but in the states the prices are more than reasonable from their own makers.
Here in the UK,they hike the prices up to equal American prices plus postage, and a lot of the parts are made in China.
After a quick bit of maths,I reckon uk sellers are making about 500% profit.
That's why they call it 'Rip off Britain'
If you get the correct part from China,it works ok.China works to the specs provided by the manufacturer,so there is very little difference in Quality.
Of course,if I lived in the states,I would but American

Hawaii is a State, but the cost of living is hellacious!
Everything we use is imported from somewhere else, at a substantial markup.
Chinese parts that are built to manufacturers specs and wear the (real) brand name are as good as any, but there are huge numbers of knock offs that are just miserable excuses for what they are sold as.
Guess I don’t have to tell you about that!
